Repairing the corner
Once the main body shell was complete, I thought the rest would be a breeze. But even the fenders (they call them "wings" in the U.K.) needed attention. This is the lower rear corner of the left front fender

Removing the Old
This area, like a lot of areas on the body, had been filled with lead. The "rust worm" continued to eat its way beyond the lead work, so all the old metal was cut out

Making a pattern
Before beginning any body work on that old car, be sure to buy some sheets of posterboard. This stuff is cheap, but invaluable for making patterns. It has just the right stiffness to fold and bend without being too bulky like cardboard or tearing like paper. I made this pattern so that I could fold it under, and weld it from the backside. The flange and angled cut will duplicate the original look.
